The Antminer L3++ is an ASIC miner produced by Bitmain, a giant in the crypto miner production industry. It is an addition to Bitmain's Antminer Application Specific Integrated Circuit brand, which has proved itself a force reckoned within the blockchain industry. Launched in 2013, the Antminer brand has always shown the promise of leading technological specifications and excellence in mining quality products. Antminers, with their superior performance and excellent efficiency, lead the mining industry, giving Bitmain a 75% share worldwide.
Bitmain released the Antminer L3 series at the end of 2016, which comes with the self-developed Litecoin chip BM1485. BM1485, the first Litecoin Application Specific Integrated Circuit, is a useful chip for Litecoin miners. Each Litecoin miner comes with 288 such chips to deliver more hash rates and efficiency. Antminer L3 series include three models: Antminer L3 (250Mh/s and power consumption 400W), Antminer L3+ (500Mh/s and 800W), Antminer L3++ (580Mh/s and 942W). Litecoin miners are also known as Scryptminers. Apart from Litecoin mining, the miner is suitable for any cryptocurrency based on Scrypt.
The Antminer L3++ comes with a dual-fan design in the rear and front sides with a compact alloy shell. It weighs 4.4kg and size dimensions of 188 x 130 x 352mm, which gives it a small shape and allows for easy stacking. On the front, there is the IP button, network cable socket, reset button, QC label, etc.
Every miner's algorithm is essential as it determines the top coin and scale of profitability for the device. For the Antminer L3++, it works with the Scrypt algorithm. Scrypt is an encryption method that requires lots of time for selection and uses significant memory volumes. It is used in many altcoins as Proof of Work (PoW). Released in 2011, it was first made for Tenebrix and served as the basis for Litecoin and Dogecoin and the Scrypt algorithm.
The Scrypt algorithm is for crypto-coin mining, which makes it more complicated for specialized ASIC miners. Coins mined from Scrypt are different from Bitcoin as Bitcoin uses the SHA-256 algorithm. Scrypt's top coin is Litecoin, but it features about 348 coins on its algorithm.
Most miners' noise level is about 60db to 70db, but the Antminer L3++ has a noise level of 76db. This noise level is because of the fans working to reduce or prevent overheating. During the day, the fan speed is about 4300rpm, and during the night, the fan speed drops to around 3900rpm. The standard fan setting is adjusted automatically based on the ambient temperature. The Antminer L3++ is suitable for mining at home as the noise level is optimized but is best kept at mining farms.
